What we fix

Cat and dog scratches

This is the most common job we get on furniture. Shallow claw marks are filled and blended into the surface. Deeper damage, where the claws have gone through the top layer, is rebuilt first and then colour matched.

The repaired area is matched to the panel around it, so it disappears rather than becoming a patch you can find later.

Tears, cuts and split seams

Leather splits along the seams and the front edge of the seat, where it takes the most weight. We reinforce the area from behind so the repair holds when someone sits on it, then finish the surface.

A repair that only looks right will open again in a month. On furniture the strength matters more than on a handbag.

Faded and sun-bleached leather

Leather that sits in direct sun loses colour unevenly, so recolouring one small area will always show. We blend the work across the whole panel, and where the old finish has gone chalky we strip it back before applying new colour and sealing it.

Colour matching

We mix colour to your piece rather than picking from a chart. On older furniture that has faded unevenly we blend the repair across the panel, so there is no visible edge where the work stops.

Antique and older leather furniture

We tell you whether to keep it or recolour it, before we touch it.

We work on old club chairs, wingbacks, Chesterfields, dining and desk chairs. Leather that has aged evenly is usually worth keeping, so we clean it, feed it and repair the splits, matching new colour to the old. Leather that has cracked through, or lost its finish in patches, needs colour across the whole panel instead.

Woodwork, joinery, veneer and french polish are a separate trade and we do not do them.

Worn armrests

Collapsed bolsters

Where the support has gone soft, the foam is replaced before the leather is touched. Recolouring a flattened bolster without rebuilding it underneath just gives you a smooth surface over a sagging seat.
